Red Wiggler Worm: Red wigglers only live within the top six inches of soil, making them better suited for the shallow box conditions of a standard worm farm. They can consume up to half their body weight in food scraps each day. They can tolerate a wide range of temperatures (65 F to 8 F, or 18 C – 27 C), maturing and reproducing quicker than larger worm species and prefer to live in a blend of food scraps and bedding than dirt (ideal worm bin conditions). They live in colonies and can handle high density in a worm bin with no desire to crawl out.
Vermicompost: is the product of the decomposition process using various species of worms, usually red wigglers, white worms, and other earthworms, to create a mixture of decomposing vegetable or food waste, bedding materials, and vermicast.
